Susquehanna University is seeking a Senior Administrative Assistant to join a team of HR professionals who work to support the mission of the university. This position provides administrative support of a complex and technical nature and requires proficiency in calendar management and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. To be successful in this fast-paced and challenging environment, organizational skills and attention to detail is a must. This position is an integral part of the Human Resources team and provides excellent customer service to the faculty, staff and students we work with every day. Judgment and initiative are exercised frequently in answering verbal and written communications and in interpreting university-wide policies and procedures.
High school degree or equivalent required.
Five years of experience in an increasingly responsible administrative support role required. Experience with executive calendar management and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology; Skilled at written and verbal communication in order to convey information effectively and as appropriate for the needs of the audience; Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction;; Knowledge of English language including meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar; Skilled at active listening in order to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions appropriately, and not interrupting at inappropriate times; Ability to manage one's own time and the time of others; Ability to set priorities; Ability to work collaboratively with others as well as independently. Ability to manage the demands of simultaneous tasks and shift project focus while ensuring successful and timely completion of duties
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force and a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. Position requires manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to type, feel, handle, and reach. Position requires occasional stooping, crouching and bending.
